At the 8th ICIST conference (http://www.eventiotic.com/eventiotic/conference/icist2018), held on Kopaonik, Serbia, March 11-14, 2018, our research paper entitled:
“User-based collaborative filtering approach for content recommendation in OpenCourseWare platforms”,
authored by Dr Nikola Tomasevic, MSc Dejan Paunovic and Prof. Dr Sanja Vranes from the “Mihajlo Pupin” Institute, was presented to the wider research community on the second day of the conference. During the designated Regular track, the SlideWiki project was introduced to the international audience, while special focus was kept on the user-based collaborative filtering (CF) approach applied in the SlideWiki system. More precisely, the conceptual idea of the content recommendation module was presented, which is capable of proposing the related decks (presentations, educational material, etc.) to the user having in mind past user activities, preferences, type and content similarity, etc. Suitable techniques were analysed for implementation of the user-based CF approach and overview of user-related features that are relevant for the content evaluation was discussed. The proposed approach presented at ICIST envisages a hybrid recommendation system as a combination of user-based and content-based approaches in order to provide a holistic and efficient solution for content recommendation.
